Aptos

Miles of sandy beaches.

Welcome to Aptos

Filled with beaches and redwoods, this small community has much to offer

Combining the redwoods and the sea into one idyllic setting, Aptos is a quaint town that serves as home to the forested Nisene Marks State Park and a historic village that features an array of antique shops, restaurants, and boutiques.

The S.S. Palo Alto, also known as “The Cement Ship,” is a popular local landmark docked at the end of the Aptos fishing pier. An experimental concrete ship built as a tanker at the end of World War I, the 100-year-old vessel now elegantly leans to its starboard side and serves as an artificial reef for marine life.

Offering plenty of seascape areas perfect for picnicking, Aptos is enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts who can play among 10,000 acres of forest or traverse a mile-long seaside paved path that runs parallel to the ocean. A vibrant town center is at the heart of Aptos, the pedestrian-friendly spot is full of ice cream shops and small-batch coffee cafes.
